Can something be decadent AND wholesome? “You bet!” says culinary instructor Katie Newell. Katie is a “lover of good food” who is passionate about her health. She has learned that fresh and organic food can be healing and, if prepared correctly … even tastier than the processed junk. Katie is back in our kitchen today to share some very tasty sweets recipes that you’ll help to make because we learn best by doing! These are real treasures that (hint, hint) would make excellent Valentine’s Day gifts to make for your sweetie next week! Katie takes us through the recipes, step-by-step, answering your questions along the way and providing the WHY behind all of her ingredient choices. You’ll learn to make Katie's Lemon Cherry Olive Oil Cupcakes, moist little muffins packed with heart-healthy fats and healing whole grains. She’ll also demonstrate her Real Sugar Cookie Dough (made with real butter, not that other stuff) and you’ll have fun rolling it out, cutting heart shapes and decorating these gems with Pink “Dye-Free” Frosting. Katie will show us several natural foods that can be used to color frosting without chemicals! The piece de resistance … Peppermint Bon Bons, made with organic powdered sugar, real butter, cream cheese, and dipped in dark chocolate!
